TRIVIA CORNER
The brief but beautiful voice-over spoken by Jeff at the beginning of the film, which begins, "No man is an island, entire of itself...." is excerpted from a famous poem written by the 17th-century poet John Donne.  The well-known book and film title "For Whom the Bell Tolls" is also taken from the same poem.

NO MAN IS AN ISLAND .... 1962

(George R. Tweed)  Jeff stars in this true story as a U.S. Navy radio operator on Guam during WWII, part of a small unit of GIs remaining on the Pacific island after it is taken by the Japanese. Tweed leads a daring attempt to escape. Also starred Marshall Thompson and Barbara Perez.
